we took cupcakes to grandma & grandpa at work for a v-day surprise.

i thought it would be fun to make a valentines treat.... because we had to stick with the theme of sugar at every meal:) i saw a cute cake on caroline's blog, and gave it a whirl.

hubs got me tulips which remind me of spring~ we spent the night at home, ate some cake, and watched a little bachelor--- Since that is a show about true love and all :) i have to say it was good to see michelle go, even though she was pretty entertaining. And what was with sport illustrated shoot and the shells? can we say awkward.....and not cute! anyhoo! hope your v-day was Smashing~

{by popular demand}....the raspberry mascarpone cupcake recipe i used at nora's blessing(from my friend ash-aka mrs. steel)

cupcake: Add 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of almond extract to a basic white or yellow cake mix. Add just a tiny bit of lemon juice. Bake as directed.

frosting:
1 carton of heavy whipping cream--pint.
1 tub of mascarpone cheese (use at room temp)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup of powdered sugar (give or take for desired taste)
1-2 cartons of fresh raspberries (save a few to garnish on the top if desired)

Directions: Whip the whipping cream and the softened mascarpone cheese together-- slowly mix in the powdered sugar. It will be done when the whipped cream stands in peaks. (should not be lumpy, if lumpy- your cream cheese was too cold) Add red food coloring to make the desired pink color. Fold in raspberries. These are the best cupcakes Ever! the frosting is light and delish~ ENJOY~

And of course -- loving the outfits.

And how cute is Finn? I mean Caleb. Now that I am obsessed with Glee I cannot help but see Finn.

I think you should do a weekly thing teaching us how to dress our kids ;).. love how i would never think to put things like her outfit together but it looks so cute..

Happy Valentines Day :)

I saw that comment about a friend of yours saying you should teach us all how to dress our kids (and ourselves, for that matter). YOu really have a talent for that!

Love all the cute things you did that day. And does Andrew watch the Bachelor with you? (giggles) My husband would DIE FIRST. He makes so much fun of that show but I love it (though I don't like the guy they picked this season much).

Several things come to mind: those cupcakes sound delightful and pretty easy-I'll definitely give them a whirl.

The cake. Uh-dorable! Love the pink! No lie-I've been planning on making a gradient green version for Levi's birthday ever since I saw that rainbow one a while back.
I'll let you know how it turns out!

The Bachelor-hilarious. We had a wee viewing party on Valentine's as well. The husbands sometimes get more into it than the wives. I think it is definitely the funniest show on tv these days!

Dang sister..you have got a a ton of comments! It took me five minutes just to scroll down to write a comment:)
It looks like you guys had an awesome V-day! I am excited to try that Sweet Tooth Fairy and I had to show Ben the Wainscoting and wall color in the background..as well as the color of wood floors...I think that would look great in our new dining room:)
Ashley's cupcakes look divine, I may have to try that recipe soon! And the cake you made is so adorable..very Valentinesey:) Glad you guys had a good day!
