#7-This past saturday was the ogden marathon. Have been training really hard this past winter and was so excited to get to it all ready..... The past few weeks i ran into a little injury and was trying to be careful--getting it worked out and massaged- and was feeling better the week of the race. The night before we had a big pasta dinner with all of the running group and headed up to a pal's cabin that was just right by the starting line of the marathon. We ate snacks and stayed up to late chatting--So fun having a group of friends to train and share these fun experiences with. We all got up at the crack-and did all our crazy pre-race rituals, and sauntered to the starting line where the music was blaring and people were going potty on the side of the road....mostly dudes---erg...lovely. Couldn't have asked for better weather- was so gorgeous up at the starting line with the sun coming up. The race began and we were off! I had a game plan in mind and was feeling good--started into a 7:15 pace and just settled into the groove of the music and scenery. Life was going good until i hit about mile 9.....my feet started to go numb, and my arches started throbbing. Then all of the sudden my calves started cramping--just seizing up on me! what in the world?? never have i had that happen. At about mile 14 there is a big hill in this race--so i slowed my pace and tried to get my legs and feet feeling better. No such luck. To add insult to injury, my stomach was getting a little upset and i had to hit the potty--another first for race day---doozy! By this point i am at about mile 16 and i am slowing down. . I was just pushing through--trying to keep a decent pace and having the cramps stop me. I had to hit the bathroom again at about mile 20--and by that time it was really getting my mental game off....i knew i was not going to beat my previous PR--which is what i had trained for. I just cranked up my music and waited to see my dad at mile 23. There he was and i got a little teary eyed--seeing him gave me a boost. I told him about the crap luck {literally} i was having and we just pushed through those last miles. I never went slower than about an 8 minute pace even with all the shenanigans going on ended up being able to finish with a
3:31--and in the top top 100 women out of 1200-which i was so grateful for. it is so funny how running can be---it all depends on the day... When you have a crappy race day, it sure reminds you how hard marathons are--and makes you feel so grateful for those amazing race days--when everything goes as you had planned. there is always another race--and boy did we have fun training this winter! I am looking forward to some fun shenanigans- and for Huntsville Marathon in Sept. ***hubs was out of town and no camera at finish--so most picts from zazoosh.com--

Your skirt is awesome. I love it! I'm sorry it wasn't your best run, but dang, two stops, crampy calves, and you still finish in the top 100 women? You are a rockstar lady. Thanks for inspiring me!
You are amazing! And you look cute doing it! xoxo
That is great you have a big group to train with...I bet that makes it so much fun! You did great Shar! Sorry crap happened during the race...that is never fun. But really you amaze me:)
I certainly applaud anyone who can run that far that fast. My goodness. What an accomplishment! I get the chills just thinking about it. Super bummer that you had those hick-ups. The fact that you kept pushing on says a lot about your character! Good luck in your next race.
Congratulations, what an accomplishment!
girl. you FINISHED. and you look GREAT in the pictures! It stinks when a bad running day falls on race day, but it sounds like you pushed through and finished strong! I am super impressed!
You are amazing! I've totally dropped running for the last 6 months. You are giving me the itch to get back out there! Congrats!!
For reals? A 3:31 after all that crap (ummm...no pun intended, promise)?! Oh girl, if I had 1/2 of your drive and speed. Every race...so different. Hubs has run around 14 marathons...his dad runnin forevah...and I've had my share of watchin...crazy how large Marge passes Mr. Marathon man at mile 24...or the mishaps that can just happen. You did it...and the end result...amazing! Really...how many peeps even run 1 marathon in their lifetime? And at darn radical speeds too? You are my inspiration! Great job! Oh...and how swanky cute is your run skirt?! ~swoon~ Congrats sweet girlie!
Holy crap I'm so impressed! Sorry for the bad luck but congrats on being in the top 100! You definitely win cutest running gear :)

Wow you are awesome! And you look so good doing it...even if you weren't feeling your best!
Girlfriend, you rock my socks off (like literally, because I am not wearing socks). You are one bad a** runner! Even with all your "crappy" (totally pun intended) problems you still finished with a rockstar time!!
PS- your legs look like super tan Barbie legs in that first pic!
Awesome! Congratulations...but sorry for the unexpected mishaps. How do you look so dang cute after running 26 miles. I'm sure I would be a wreck. Oh, also thanks for your post a few weeks ago on running. It is really great for someone like myself who is starting/trying to get into running. I've showed it to a few friends too.
You are so amazing! Way to go. Evem without a PR, that's an awesome time. Bummer about the troubles along the way. That's never fun!

Way to kill it Shar. Even with a really rough day, you still got way ahead of the majority! Seriously, you're superwoman.
Wow, so impressed that you were able to power through! I probably would have borrowed a cell phone and told my husband to pick me up at the next mile marker:). Great job!
