{my hero}

IMG_2719_edited-1

This Valentines weekend was a pretty stressful and tough one for our family. My dad had to have open heart surgery for a double bypass this past Fri. It all came on so suddenly--and we were left shocked and worried. For the past couple months he hasn't been feeling great. He has had shortness of breath and numbness in his arms when he would run. So finally--after much resistance and prodding from all of us--he went in and got a stress test. The doc said he thought he may have a block, and scheduled an angio for the next day. The angio showed that he had some major blockages, and would need a bypass. They admitted him to the hospital that day. He was able to have his double bypass on Fri. My dad--the biker, runner, and just turned 50 years old--had to have open heart surgery! Our genetics aren't the best--unfortunately. I am so thrilled to report that his surgery went picture perfect. He has such a strong heart, and is so healthy--he is recovering really well. He is out of the ICU, and back to his jokes. It was so touching to see the outpouring of love and concern from all of our family, neighbors, and friends. My dad is so truly loved. You can't not love him--he is so fun, witty, kind, and would do anything for anyone. I couldn't imagine life without my dad. He is my rock and one of my best friends. I feel so blessed that we were able to find out about his condition before he had something major happen, and that everything went so well. We are now planning our run in central park in April... I love you more than words can say Dad...
I can't thank family and friends enough for all the support and love that has been shown. It really means a lot to him and our family.
I hope you all had a Happy Valentines--and told your loved ones how much they mean to you--you can never say it enough... xoxo

I'm glad he did alright through the surgery. It's definitely not the easiest surgery, but sounds like he did great! Good luck with the recovery.

What a scary ordeal! My dad had almost the same thing happen to him. Shortness of breath and aching in his arm. FINALLY he went in and they caught what could have caused a major heart attack. Lucky for you and I, our dads have lots of great family to insist on getting things checked out before it's too late. We wish your dad a fast and easy recovery. Love you guys!!

Shar I hope your Dad is doing okay? I have been trying to call your Mom. It sounds like he is doing so much better!!! I have been so worried. Its a hard thing to go through every time Dad ( grandpa ) had to get something done with his heart I would go into panic mode. Love you guys!!!
